This year’s Thanksgiving dinner went under the title “English Tweed” and was inspired by this Downton Abbey cast photo:
The invitation read:
Lady Lina and Baroness Catherine invite you to their winter estate to celebrate together the opening of the Fox Hunting season.
Dress code: English Countryside
We had 16 guests all of which did their best to match the dinner’s theme. As always, everyone brought her/his specialty dish with the highlight being the 7 k turkey. Needless to say, the food was so much that it took us throughout the following week.
If the weather permits it, I would suggest you took the party outdoors at your garden or even turn it into pick nick. Unfortunatelly, we were not that lucky but we did go out to take a group picture at the nearby park.
∗Detail for the esthetes: Simo’s binoculars and vintage photo camera.
For the table, I chose orange/green plaid and english flower pattern napkins. I used a sheer fabric tablecloth roll and paper table mats. I did not have enough bowls for the pumpin soup, so I used big milkshake tumblers. I decorated the table with three big round beige and purple candles I already had.
GUESTS: 16 / BUDGET:
My contribution as a host to the party was
Supermarket: wine, appetisers, plastic cups, napkins, etc. = EUR 92.80
Casa: tablecloth roll, table mats = EUR 5.00
